Haroon Kareem

Haroon Kareem has played an active role in the development of the Al-Risalah Education Trust. He was the chair of Balham Masjid Committee and assisted with the opening of the Balham Prep School. He served as chair for Balham Prep/Al-Risalah School since 1993 to 2004. He was appointed the deputy chair for Gatton Primary School when it opened in September 2004. He was instrumental in the construction and funding project of Gatton and Orchard School. Haroon is well known within the community for the services rendered for Balham Mosque Memon Centre and Al-Risalah Trust Schools. 1. Iqbal

Sir Iqbal has over 40 years of experience in accounting and business. He takes a keen interest in community engagement programmes and is much respected within the community. Sir Iqbal has been actively involved in voluntary capacity with community and charitable work for over four decades. He has led a number of charitable and community organisations. He has served as Chairman of Muslim Aid – an international relief and development agency serving in more than 70 countries.He is Deputy President of World Memon Organisation (WMO) an umbrella body of the Memon community worldwide whose primary aim is to alleviate illiteracy and poverty in under developed countries.He was the founding Secretary General of the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB) a national umbrella and representative body of British Muslims.He was a member of International Advisory Panel (IAP) of the World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF).He was a governor at Leeds Metropolitan University.He is a recipient of number of national and international awards. He was awarded OBE in 1999 and was knighted by Her Majesty in 2005 for services to charities and community.
